In July 2009, Louke van Wensveen introduced the concept ‘Light Development': a combination of Integral Development and Sustainable Development. In the concept, the 3Ps of Sustainable Development (people, planet and profit) receive an other meaning, in order to emphasise the lightness of sustainability. A similarity between Light and Integral Development is the emphasis placed on religion and relationality. Light Development focuses in this on the micro level of individual households in the South.

This report gives an outline of the exploration of the Light Development concept in 2010. It explains the meaning of Light Development and examines the concept in a practical and theoretical manner. This was done by exploring different sustainable development projects in the South and by a conference held on the 15th of April, 2010. The report also describes the way the KCRD will continue to work with the Light Development concept and its underlying visions in the future.
